This moment of art is truly a precious experience.
In this single chant, I feel as if I can hear the ancient principles.
See, art reflects a person's soul.
I'd love to be a comedian as cool as that someday.
I wonder what kind of beautiful world tonight's dance will show us.
The time spent performing arts is an irreplaceable luxury.

Program
"Shiki Noh" is a performance that inherits the style in which Noh was performed as an official event for the samurai class during the Edo period. It was first held in 1961 at the former Suidobashi Hosho Noh Theater as "Five Schools of the Head School, Formal Five Noh Performance," and has continued for over 50 years since then.
The program begins with the appearance of "Okina," followed by five Noh plays, including "Kamidanjo Kyoki," with four Kyogen pieces in between. "Okina" is a special role that is played in turn by a representative from each school every year, and this time it will be played by Kongo Eikin, the head of the Kongo school of shite.
The elegant and powerful Noh and humorous Kyogen plays alternate, making it a stage that even first-timers can enjoy without getting bored.

Let's dig deeper into the points to enjoy it even more!!
[ A Traditional Stage Begins with "Okina" ] Shiki Noh is a formal performance format established during the Edo period, beginning with the appearance of the sacred "Okina." This special performance prays for peace and bountiful harvests.
[ Dramatic Five Noh Plays ] Performed in the order of "God, Man, Woman, Madman, and Demon," the play unfolds a diverse range of dramas, from myths and plays with male protagonists to gorgeous pieces featuring female protagonists and grotesque creatures (such as fox incarnations).
[ Kyogen for Human Comedy ] Kyogen plays are interspersed between Noh plays, humorously depicting the lives of medieval commoners and feudal lords. While still relevant to modern humor, they offer a natural, enjoyable experience.
[ The Noh Stage Itself Is a Highlight ] Experience an extraordinary experience in a beautiful space dedicated to Noh performance, featuring a cypress stage, pine paneling, and a bridge overpass.
[ Tips for Enjoying the Show ] While a full day of viewing will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the world of Noh, even just one performance is enjoyable. A little preparation for Noh's style will deepen your understanding. You can enjoy Kyogen even if you just read the synopsis in the pamphlet. Don't be too strict, just find your own highlights!
