This year marks the 170th anniversary of the painting of Utagawa Hiroshige's masterpiece, "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo."
With representative works of Japonism as a backdrop, the exhibition will portray the lives and emotions of Edo people through rakugo and hauta (traditional Japanese poetry).

Performance Information

"One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" was begun in hopes of recovery from the Ansei earthquake.
Rakugo storytelling and enka songs, which are performed alongside the vivid scenery of Edo at the end of the Edo period, bring the spirit of Edo's people back to life in the present day.
This is a time when traditional Japanese performing arts are combined with masterpieces of Japonism, including those by Van Gogh, which have had a global impact.
In this milestone year marking 170 years since the work was painted, enjoy a special performance that allows you to experience art and history.
