ABOUT US
The Edo Tokyo Traditional Performing Arts Festival, which will begin in 2025, will inherit the Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Festival, which has been popular for over half a century, and will be reborn as a festival specializing in traditional Japanese performing arts such as Noh theater, Japanese dance, traditional Japanese music, vaudeville performances, and folk performing arts.From full-scale stage performances to easy-to-participate, hands-on workshops, it will be enjoyable for a wide range of generations, from children to adults.

You can enjoy a variety of performances, including Rakugo, Wazuma (Japanese magic), Kyogen, Shamisen, and Japanese dance, * Advance applications are now closed. Applications and participation on the day are not possible. Thank you for your understanding.
In addition to hands-on programs taught by professionals in each genre, including Rakugo, Wazuma (Japanese magic), Kyogen, Shamisen, and Japanese dance, be holding a special performance where you can enjoy a digest of five performing arts all at once! Even beginners can easily participate, and we hope you will have a time of learning and excitement. Everyone, from children to adults, is welcome to join us.

Sunday, January 18, 2026 ① Experience Program: Starts at 1:00 PM | Check-in at 12:45 PM ② Viewing Program: Starts at 2:30 PM | Doors open at 2:00 PM The experience program is approximately 50 minutes long | The viewing program is approximately 2 hours long (with a break)

Participation: Elementary school students (20-35 people per genre) Viewing: Anyone (approximately 500 people)
Fee
Free *Advance applications are now closed. *Advance applications are required. Please see [How to apply]. *If there are a large number of applicants, a lottery will be held.
Performers
active at the forefront of each genre (rakugo, wazuma, kyogen, shamisen, and Japanese dance) will be performing!
1. Please enter "Application to participate on 1/18" in the subject line. 2. Name, city of residence, phone number, and email address of the representative (guardian) 3. Viewing: Number of people desired to watch (including the representative applicant) . 4. Experience: Name (furigana) of participants wishing to participate | Grade | Desired program name (choose one from Rakugo, Wazuma, Kyogen, Shamisen, or Japanese dance) . *Applications for viewing only are also accepted. *Applications for viewing can be made by adults only. *Application results will be notified by email around January 6th. (We will reply to all applicants regardless of the results.) *If there are a large number of applicants, a lottery will be held. Applications may continue after the deadline depending on the application situation.
