The Tokyo Citizens' Arts Festival has been held since 1968 to support arts and cultural organizations active in Tokyo and to introduce Tokyo residents to a variety of performing arts and traditional performing arts.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, through the management and operation of metropolitan cultural facilities and the implementation of various cultural programs, is committed to promoting Tokyo's arts and culture, and preserving and developing its history and culture. It has been involved in the management of this festival since 2008. Starting
this year, the traditional performing arts section will be reorganized and held as the Edo Tokyo Traditional Performing Arts Festival.
This newly launched Edo Tokyo Traditional Performing Arts Festival will showcase the traditional performing arts of Edo Tokyo, which have continued to develop in Meiji-era Tokyo and have been passed down to the present day. It will be a festival where you can rediscover and experience the "elegance" of Edo. We hope you will discover and enjoy the rich arts and culture that shape Tokyo today.
